The people you'll actually work with.
What your nurse does
Texts you within 48 hours of signup. Runs your intake call in week one. Calls and texts you weekly. Holds your full history in context, so you never start from scratch. Coordinates with your counsellor (Care and Care+). Shares structured care summaries with your GP and specialists with your consent. Adjusts the rhythm of support when you're flaring, in hospital, or coping well. Reviews your outcome check-ins at 3 and 6 months and adapts what you do together accordingly.
What your nurse doesn't do
Diagnose conditions. Prescribe or manage medication. Order tests or referrals. Replace the work of your GP, specialists, or treating psychiatrist. Provide crisis or emergency response.
Every Clea nurse is
Registered - with credentialing in mental health.
Many living with chronic illness themselves - bringing lived understanding alongside clinical training.
ExperiencedNurses- clinical backgrounds in pain clinics, gynaecology, rheumatology, sleep medicine, neurology, and community mental health.
Chronic pain (e.g. fibromyalgia, back or joint pain)
When the pain never stops, it wears down your mind too. We help with the anxiety, exhaustion, and isolation that come from living in constant discomfort, so you can feel supported, not stuck.
Autoimmune flare-ups are unpredictable and so is how they make you feel. We support the emotional side of living with uncertainty, inflammation, and a body that sometimes turns against you.
Long COVID & chronic fatigue
When your energy disappears but the world keeps moving, it’s easy to feel left behind. We help you manage the mental fatigue, brain fog, and emotional weight of recovery that doesn’t follow a timeline.
IBS & gut health issues
Gut issues affect more than your stomach, they impact confidence, social life, and mental health. We support the anxiety and unpredictability that come with IBS.
Migraines & neurological conditions
Pain that hijacks your brain can take over your life. We understand the fear of the next episode and the fog that follows.
Diabetes
Managing diabetes is relentless and that pressure can take a toll on your mental health. We help with the burnout, food anxiety, and constant decision fatigue.
We don’t just believe you. We’ve been you.
Your counsellor. Included in Care and Care+
Counselling at Clea isn't a separate service bolted on. Your counsellor works alongside your nurse, with shared notes, in the same care team - so you don't re-explain your story every session.
What your counsellor does Monthly sessions on Care, fortnightly on Care+. Reads your nurse's notes before your session, so you walk in with context already in place. Builds a long arc of work over months, rather than starting fresh each session. Coordinates with your nurse on the work between sessions. Reviews progress alongside your nurse at quarterly intervals (Care+).
What your counsellor doesn't do Diagnose mental health conditions. Provide acute or crisis psychiatric care. Manage medication. Replace the work of a psychiatrist or treating psychologist where you have one.
Every Clea Counsellor is
✓ Registered with current professional indemnity. ✓ Experienced in chronic illness - pain psychology, illness adjustment, and chronic illness and identity loss. ✓ Continuity-focused - you see the same counsellor each session, wherever possible.

One care team. One conversation.
Most mental health services treat your nurse and your counsellor as separate transactions. Clea treats them as one care team - with shared notes, shared goals, and shared visibility into what's actually happening in your life.
You tell your story once. With your consent, your nurse and counsellor share notes. When you start a counselling session, your counsellor already knows what your nurse knows. You walk in at week six, not week one.
The work compounds. What you discuss in counselling shapes what your nurse checks in on between sessions. What your nurse notices between sessions feeds into your next counselling appointment. Each part informs the other.
Care+ adds a quarterly review. Your nurse and counsellor meet together, with you, every three months - to review where you're at and where the work is going next. Most members say this is the single most valuable moment of the membership.
Clea acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work, and pays respect to Elders past and present.
Clea provides non-crisis mental health support for people living with chronic illness. If you require urgent or emergency support, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or call 000.
